Every year Arrow’s personal and professional development coach, Michael Buckley, asks everyone to pick a “Word of the Year.” The goal is to look inward and consider what we each need more of and what might improve our lives. Sometimes we need more focus or clarity. Sometimes we need more compassion. Sometimes we just need more fun!
Picking a word for both me and my community is a commitment to doing work on yourself and the “we” and “us” work we want to do as a community.
Looking back on 2022, our biggest win was when we opened! Opening started our journey of providing the best possible experience for our residents and staff. We take great pride in being able to say we have a great, dedicated, and hard-working group of staff members to assist our residents.
Now, looking forward to 2023, what Vitalia Active Adult Community – North Royalton needs is regeneration. The community has gone through a lot in 2022 and what better way to start off 2023 than to be regenerated? Some obstacles are harder than others, but we couldn’t be happier with the staff in place. Regeneration means putting life and connection at the center of every decision we make. It’s about bringing vitality and renewed growth to our community. We plan on weaving this word in by looking at each hurdle as an opportunity to grow and to renew the trust, faith, happiness, and satisfaction of our residents and staff.
As for myself, I have chosen the word engagement for 2023. I want our community to be engaged to the highest capability possible – engagement from residents to staff, staff to residents, and neighborhood to neighborhood.
What is YOUR WORD? I hope you will pick one too. What does your life need a little more of in 2023? What does “future you” thank you for working on now? Our words are meant to inspire us. If it is not inspiring, it’s not the right word.
