Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a federal holiday in the United States, observed on the third Monday of January to honor the civil rights leader. This American civil rights activist played a key role in advocating for racial equality and justice through nonviolent means. Therefore, people remember Dr. King’s contributions on this day and frequently engage in community service to honor his legacy.

At Vitalia North Royalton, many of our residents have volunteered or served others. To help older adults continue to participate in all that is important to them and to do our part in continuing Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, our community participates in Arrow Senior Living’s Acts of Service initiatives throughout the year. In January, we plan to focus on one specific community service project every month. Our aging adults take pride in these efforts because the work is meaningful and creates lasting relationships with those in their long-term communities.
Our team and residents were driven by a shared vision of making a meaningful difference in our surrounding community in 2023. We embarked on a journey to bring about positive change, and the results have exceeded our expectations. It was heartwarming to see the collaboration of our Vitalia community working towards one goal each month.
We received feedback from our residents, who took great pride in all the efforts made in 2023 to continue making an impact in the new year.
In past years, we’ve partnered with local food banks, animal shelters, hospitals, and more. As we head into the new year, we’re excited for the opportunity to continue partnering with our local community to serve others purposefully.
In 2024, we plan to keep the momentum going as we build on existing relationships and form new ones. One thing we are most excited about is our relationship with N.C.C. Solutions, who serve individuals with developmental disabilities. We’ve built a fun friendship and welcome them into our community each month – laughter and love fill our hallways. One of our projects will be to sponsor a volleyball net for our friends at N.C.C. Solutions so they can practice, have fun, exercise, and even host our travel volleyball team, The Royalton Raccoons, for a match.
We are looking forward to a fun and charitable year here at Vitalia North Royalton, and our residents are enjoying themselves as they make our surrounding area a better place, one Act of Service at a time.
